He was the king of guitar.At the same time he was a very good vocalist.Yah i am talking about Mark Knopfler who is often remebered for his songs like Sultan of Swing or Walk of Life.His stunning performance in Sulatns of Swing has made him the most versatile singer, guitarist and his band Dire Straits one of the most famous classic band in the history.Mark Knopfler formed Dire Straits in the seventies along with his brother David Knopfler who was also a guitarist.Other members of the band were John Illsley as the bass guitarist and Pick Withers as the drummer.Their first album was with the same name as the band.It didnot get much popularity.But the number Sultans Of Swing of this album started a new era.It turned a huge hit and made Dire Straits a classic success.Mark Knopfler becomes the Sultan Of Rock.His movement of the fingers over the six-string was simply stunning.This number has been voted as one of the greatest guitar solos of all time.The next album of Dire Straits was Communique.It was again a big hit for the band.The third album from the band was Making Movies which contained the song Romeo and Juliet.This was another land mark for the band.Among other albums Brothers in Arms can be mentioned.All these albums made Dire Straits a significant British rock band.You will realise the standard if you hear them.
